What Is ISO/IEC 27001:2022

ISO/IEC 27001 is the internationally recognised standard for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and continually improving an Information Security Management System (ISMS). Published jointly by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), it defines a rigorous framework for managing risks related to the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets.

The 2022 revision, the most current version of the standard, reflects the latest business practices, emerging cybersecurity threats, and updated controls covering areas such as cloud security, data privacy, and threat intelligence. It organises 93 security controls across four domains: Organisational, People, Physical, and Technological.

Achieving certification requires a thorough, multi-stage independent audit by an accredited certification body, verifying that the organisation's security management practices meet the standard's demanding requirements.
